Paranoia2mp3 is a tiny helper application which automates process of importing Audio CD using cdda paranoia.

With this application, you can automate the following Audio CD import process.

  1. Ripping Audio CD using cdda paranoia.
  2. Convert the resulting AIFF to mp3 (mpeg1 Layer3).
  3. Write meta data (like track title etc...)to mp3 Files.
  4. Copy the resulting mp3 file to iTunes/Music.app.

If you wish, you can stop #1 of CD rip only. And skip all further steps.

Clasp is an application which supports to import Audio CD into iTunes using LAME. Clasp is not a kind of mp3 encoder. It just serve as an intermediary between iTunes and LAME. Clasp does not contain LAME within application package. You may have to install LAME on your system to use Clasp. With this application, iTunes and LAME are clasped with each other. That is the name of application comes from.

Under the environment which Norton Internet Security for Mac is installed, Clasp does not respond for while after you select CD to process. (During this time, frequently optical drive access is continued) Also, unexplained optical drive access is occured during track change. As a result, Clasp take much time to process under that environment.

If you'd like to use security product with Clasp, I recommend you to switch to Kaspersky Internet Security – Multi-Device from Norton Internet Security for Mac.

(In security product installed environment, Clasp processing start after CD place selection is seems to take a bit longer time compare with not product installed environment. You might feel much less stress if you wait for finish of CD track icon mapping on CD place selection screen)
